Zamalek have reached the CAF Champions League group-stages following an easy 5-0 aggregate victory over Kenya’s Tusker FC.
A second-half strike from Achraf Bencharki had clinched Zamalek a narrow 1-0 victory in Kenya, which neared the Whites closer to the group-stages.
Patrice Carteron’s sealed the job in Cairo with an easy 4-0 victory to become the first Egyptian team to reach the CAF Champions League group-stages ahead of Al Ahly’s clash with Niger’s USGN.
Zamalek needed just 10 minutes to open the scoring after Youssef Obama took advantage of a goalkeeping howler to find the back of the next with a lobbed header.
Eight minutes later, Seifeddine Jaziri doubled his side’s with another header after a cross from Ahmed Sayed Zizo to score his first African goal for Zamalek.

Zamalek had to wait until the 71st minute to make it 3-0. Shikabala put Obama through on goal with a smart pass, before the forward dribbled past the keeper and gifted the ball to Bencharki, who easily found the net.
Obama completed his brace with another goal just three minutes later after tapping in Ahmed Sayed Zizo’s low cross, securing the victory and the qualification.
The Whites are now the first team to reach the 2022 CAF Champions League group-stages and will await to see their rivals Al Ahly’s result tomorrow.
The Reds had drew away from home against Niger’s USGN 1-1 and will need to win by any score on Saturday night to accompany their compatriots.
