Al Ahly head coach, Pitso Mosimane, says he isn’t happy with his team’s win over USGN, even though they dominated the entirety of the encounter.
Al Ahly have now sealed their place in the CAF Champions League group-stages, joining compatriots and rivals Zamalek SC, after beating Niger’s USGN 7-2 on aggregate.

While the result was great, Mosimane isn’t happy with his team’s performance and blames the Egyptian FA for the lack of players they have in their squad.
“I told the players that if we want to win the CAF Champions League for the third time in a row, we have to win and qualify for the group stage,” Mosimane said after the game.
“I also told the players in the trainings leading to the match that we have to score more than five goals, because sometimes when we score two goals in the first half we stop being clinical.
“The result is definitely satisfactory, but the level wasn’t as good as we wanted. Yes, we controlled the match, but we wanted to perform better than that.

“I always want the team to play collectively, not individually, and also there is no justification for receiving a goal from a team like this, so we have to develop from that aspect more.
“We don’t have the luxury of making a mistake again, especially after losing the league and the Super Cup, and there are no excuses for the next period and I am not looking for them.
“We did not have a sufficient number of players on the bench, because of the Egyptian FA ending the league competition after the registration period approved by CAF.
“I understand that this is a problem that Zamalek and Pyramids also suffer from, so the domestic matches calendar must be set so that clubs can benefit from their new players in continental competitions.
“Its a problem caused by the EFA, Pyramids didn’t have a big win yesterday because they didn’t have sufficient number of players, the Football Association must support the clubs to overcome the matter,” he concluded.
