The Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final action concludes on Sunday, with a huge showdown to kick things off in Yaounde.
Hosts Cameroon – who beat Gambia 2-0 yesterday – await in the last four on Thursday as the Pharaohs and Atlas Lions battle at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium.
Egypt overcame a gruelling clash with the Ivory Coast in the last 16 after finishing second behind Nigeria in Group D, with back-up goalkeeper Gabaski the hero as he crucially saved Eric Bailly’s penalty in the shootout.
Mohamed Salah and Co will now have their eyes firmly fixed on a record-extending eighth AFCON title, but have a woeful record against their North African rivals.
Morocco have won 14 of the last 29 meetings between these two sides, but they needed Youssef En-Nesyri and a stunning Achraf Hakimi free-kick to turn things around and avoid a shock exit against minnows Malawi last time out.
Vahid Halilhodzic’s side had previously cruised to the top of Group C as they pursue a first AFCON title since 1976.

HALF-TIME
Well over the bar from Hakimi – Egypt survive.
They lead with 105 minutes played. 15 to go!
105+1 mins: Abdelmonem shown the yellow card, after a foul right on the edge of the box. Nothing subtle about that, just hauled down Rahimi before he got into the box.
Chance for Hakimi.
105 mins: One minute added on.
Morocco won’t have much time to regroup at half-time, pretty much just an immediate change of ends.
103 mins: Disastrous start to the match for Egypt but they’ve turned it around. Just over 15 minutes left for them to hang on.
As you’d imagine, they’ve immediately sat back into a solid shape.
GOAL! Egypt 2-1 Morocco | Trezeguet 100′
EGYPT TAKE THE LEAD!
Could that be the winner? Salah has it on the right and he just runs at Aguerd, who is expected him to take it onto his left foot – but Salah goes down the line.
Plays it across the face of goal, and it’s the simplest of finishes for Trezeguet.
99 mins: Salah and Saiss battle for the ball, it very nearly falls to the Liverpool man in the box – but the whistle has gone.
Not sure what the referee has given it for, but free-kick for Morocco. Salah is equally confused.
97 mins: Straight into the action, is Sobhy… not hugely convincing.
Decent cross into the box, just over the head of Mmaee. Sobhy comes out, gets hardly anything on the punch and then clatters into his teammate Kamal.
96 mins: Gabal doesn’t want to accept it, but he is now eventually being brought off. Carlos Queiroz has seen enough.
Sobhy on to replace him. Big 25 minutes coming up for him – and potentially a penalty shootout.
94 mins: Worked well out to Hakimi on the right wing. Floated ball into the box, headed away.
Falls to El-Haddadi 20 yards out – just over the bar! Gabal barely moved in goal for Egypt, he really needs to be replaced.
92 mins: Good ball into the box, as Morocco win yet another free-kick.
Rahimi wasn’t too far away from getting on the end of it, but it runs out of play for a corner. Saiss wins the header… over the bar.
