Canada’s economy added 31,000 jobs in October with the unemployment rate falling to 6.7 per cent, the fifth month in a row of improving joblessness in the country as the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic continue to decrease.
But employers in many industries say the labour market remains difficult, with finding new employees still difficult resulting in some having to cut back hours at a time when revenue remains desperately needed.
As Anne Gaviola explains, the issue appears to be revolving around the issue of “ghosting,” in which job candidates are not showing up for interviews and in some cases, not even showing up for the job they were hired to do.
