Anambra State residents are expected to come out in their numbers today to vote in the next governor to pilot the affairs of the state for the next four years.
AllNews Nigeria reports that there are 2.5 million registered voters and 18 political parties for the election which is obviously going to test the Independent National Electoral Commission,( INEC) readiness to conduct a hitch-free, fair and credible general elections across Nigeria in 2023.
The major contending parties amongst the 18 approved INEC jostling for the state’s number one seat include the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Young Progressives Party (YPP).
Anambra, with over 4 million population, consists of 21 local government areas. There are 5,720 Polling Units (PUs) across the state.
However, IPOB has cancelled its sit-at-home order, there is a general apprehension that many voters may stay away from the poll because of the fear of violence.
Speaking during a call in programme on Nigerian Info FM, Seun Olabode complalined that some citizens are still scared to come out knowing that violence might erupt.
