The president of the normalization committee in charge of the Egyptian FA (EFA), Ahmed Megahed, has announced the absence of Pyramids FC players in the upcoming FIFA Arab Cup.
The FIFA Arab Cup is set to take place in Qatar between the 30th of November and the 18th of December of this year.
The tournament will include 22 Arab nations from both Africa and Asia, with three newcomers, namely Comoros, Somalia, and Djibouti.
Egypt national team’s participation in the tournament will start in Group D alongside Algeria, Lebanon, and Sudan.
Most nations will participate with only local-based players as the tournament doesn’t coincide with FIFA’s normal international break schedule.
However, not all Egyptian Premier League players will be available for the competition as Pyramids FC and Al Masry players will be playing in the final play-off round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
“The Arab Cup will be a good preparation for the Egyptian national team for the Africa Cup of Nations and the final stage of the World Cup qualifiers.
“In the tournament, we will miss the foreign-based players, as well as the Pyramids players,” Megahed told the press.
