Quebec Premier François Legault announced on Wednesday that as of Sunday, Dec. 26, the number of people in private gatherings will be reduced to 6, or two house bubbles, as the province is being hard hit by the Omicron variant.
As of Sunday, Dec. 26, a capacity of 6 people at each table at restaurants will be implemented as well.
The premier asked people who can postpone their Christmas celebrations to do so, and if not, to be very careful and practice all health measures.
He also called on people to book their booster shots, especially people over the age of 60, as they’re the ones at high risk of getting hospitalized from COVID-19.
The premier said rapid tests will be prioritized to symptomatic people as the demand is higher than the number of tests available.
Quebec reported 6,361 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday.
