Egyptian pundit Ahmed Shobeir stated that Amr El-Sulya’s chances of Africa Cup of Nations participation have increased as he might be fit sooner than expected.
Days ago, Al Ahly clashed with Morocco’s Raja Casablanca for the CAF Super Cup, and the Reds came on top after a thrilling penalty shoot-out.
Despite winning, Al Ahly and Egypt national teams received a heavy blow that night as midfielder Amr El-Sulya suffered an injury while warming up for the game.
After running diagnostic tests, Al Ahly medical staff revealed El-Sulya’s injury to be a calf injury, and it was stated that he’d need three weeks to recover.
According to that report, El-Sulya’s chances of participating with Egypt in the Africa Cup of Nations were very slim.
However, Shobeir stated that El-Sulya’s recovery process will take only two weeks instead of three as previously mentioned.
“Amr El-Sulya will miss Egypt AFCON opening game against Nigeria, but he’s recovering and will be fit to play the remaining national team games.
“If I was the one in charge, I’d include him in Egypt squad for the AFCON, and I believe Queiroz will do the same, El-Sulya is an experienced player who can benefit the team.”
