In addition to the easier password autofill, Firefox Focus Browser for Android version has received Mozilla’s Total Cookie Protection feature to tackle cross-site tracking.
The feature stores cookies gathered from each site visited separately into “cookie jars” to help prevent trackers from tracking users around the web and providing companies with data on browsing behaviour, such as details about the products searched for and site visited.
Mozilla’s Total Cookie Protection is one of its strongest privacy protections to date and it is a weapon in its long-running battle against web tracking. The feature is activated by default when privacy mode is active in Firefox proper.
The feature works by isolating cookies from each site to mitigate cross-site tracking. With the feature off, websites can access the same pool of browser cookies. Mozilla illustrate.
Mozilla boast of being the first mobile browser to offer the feature to safeguard the privacy of its users.
To avoid issues with those caused by isolating cookies with Total Cookie Protection, Mozilla is tapping into SmartBlock and some other features to help prevent a website from breaking.
