A fierce snowstorm swept through Greece on Monday, closing schools, trapping people in their vehicles, and bringing transport to a halt.
In the second cold front to hit the Mediterranean country in seven days, snowfall reached the capital and the Aegean islands.
Power was cut for several hours in parts of greater Athens, including the eastern Attica coastal towns of Rafina and Artemida, where snow-blanketed beaches and beach umbrellas.
Authorities sent warnings for people to stay indoors, but many ventured out with their vehicles, getting trapped in the heavy snow and causing traffic pileups.
