Gambian referee Bakary Gassama has been appointed to officiate the Africa Cup of Nations semi-final between Egypt and Cameroon.
The Pharaohs have advanced to the Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals after beating Morocco 2-1 in a 120 minutes game filled with excitement.

Cameroon on the other hand had a relatively easier task as they earned their top-four spot by beating Gambia 2-0.
This upcoming clash is between the two most successful sides in the tournament’s history, with 12 titles between them.
Egypt are the record-holders with seven titles (1957, 1959, 1986, 1998, 2006, 2008, 2010) while Cameroon come second with five titles (1984, 1988, 2000, 2002, 2017).
With the awaited game closing in, the referee officiating it was revealed by CAF to be Bakary Gassama.
Gassama is no stranger to Egypt fans, he previously officiated a number of games for the national team, including the Congo game in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers which saw Egypt’s first qualification in 30 years.
Recently, The Gambian referee was chosen for Egypt’s opening game in this edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, where the national team suffered a 1-0 defeat against Nigeria.

Bakary Gassama will be assisted by Jerson dos Santos and Arsenio Maringola, with Ansudane Soulaimana as the fourth official.
Meanwhile, the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) will be supervised by Haythem Guirat who will be assisted by Khalil Hassani and Lahlou Benbraham.
