Who is Fox News reporter Benjamin Hall?
Born on July 23, 1982, Benjamin Hall is a British journalist who has worked with Fox News since 2013.
He briefly studied at Duke University in North Carolina, going on to receive a Bachelor’s degree from the Richmond American University in London.
Hall later earned a post-graduate diploma in television journalism from the University of the Arts.
After leaving college, Hall began freelancing with a number of publications, mostly working throughout the Middle East and Africa.
The 39-year-old has also worked for the New York Times, Sunday Times, BBC, The Times, Agence France Presse, Playboy, and Esquire Magazine.
A London native, Hall returned to his roots when he was promoted to foreign affairs correspondent at Fox in 2015.
According to the Fox website, Hall “has covered elections in numerous countries, interviewed presidents, prime ministers, foreign ministers, US commanders, ISIS prisoners, and survivors of the genocide against Uighurs in China.”
Since acquiring the position of State Department correspondent, Hall has relocated to Washington, DC.
Hall married Alicia Meller in 2015.
The couple has three daughters, with Hall regularly sharing snaps of his happy family on Instagram.
Is Benjamin Hall reporting from Ukraine?
Hall is one of the many journalists that has been covering Russia’s invasion of Ukraine from the frontlines.
On February 2022, he wrote on Instagram: “Anchoring [America’s Newsroom] live from #Ukraine… this is a tragedy that’s only set to get worse.”
He then hosted his first solo show on March 1, 2022 – a Ukraine Special with Trey Yingst and Lucas Tomlinson joining as guests.
Hall has previously worked with the British TV stations ITN and Channel 4, and he has been known to report from behind enemy lines in places such as Libya, Syria, Iraq, Somalia, Egypt, Haiti, and Iran.
Was Benjamin Hall injured in Ukraine?
In a statement delivered by Fox News on Monday, March 14, 2022, the station announced Hall had been injured while on the job in Ukraine.
The statement said: “Earlier today, our correspondent Benjamin Hall was injured while newsgathering outside of Kyiv in Ukraine.
“We have a minimal level of details right now, but Ben is hospitalized and our teams on the ground are working to gather additional information as the situation quickly unfolds.”
The statement continued: “The safety of our entire team of journalists in Ukraine and the surrounding regions is our top priority and of the utmost importance.
“This is a stark reminder for all journalists who are putting their lives on the line every day to deliver the news from a war zone.”
The following day, Fox News then announced the passing of cameraman Pierre Zakrzewski and revealed that Hall had lost a part of his leg.
“Pierre was killed in Horenka, outside of Kyiv, Ukraine,” the station said in a statement.
“Pierre was with Benjamin Hall yesterday newsgathering when their vehicle was struck by incoming fire,” the statement continued.
The statement said he was a war zone photographer who covered a number of stories across the globe.
An update on Hall was then released on March 25, 2022, revealing that he is now recovering in the United States.
“We’ve had an outpouring of care and concern about Benjamin Hall, so wanted to share a brief update with everyone,” Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott said in a memo, according to People.
“Yesterday Ben was transferred from Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany to Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC), located at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, Texas.”
