Nigeria national team head coach Augustine Eguavoen has stepped down from his position after failing to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.
Eguavoen took charge of the Super Eagles after the dismissal of Gernot Rohr days before the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
Since then, he was knocked out of the AFCON round of 16 after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Tunisia, and was also eliminated from the 2022 World Cup qualifiers after falling to a 1-1 draw with Ghana at home.
As a result of failing to qualify for the World Cup, Augustine stepped down from his position as head coach.
The Nigeria Football Federation then terminated the contracts of the entire technical staff with immediate effect.
“We thank the coaches and team officials for their service to the nation and wish them success in their future endeavours,” NFF statement said.
