Large crowds are not always seen in party leadership races but Conservative Party candidate Pierre Poilievre is seeing crowds in the hundreds to the thousands. Some political experts say rivals would be foolish to dismiss the numbers.
They say it can be a sign of an electorate ready for change; like what was seen when now Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was campaigning in 2015, and when the late NDP Leader Jack Layton was campaigning in the 2011 election.
But as David Akin reports, the challenge Poilievre will face is whether he can turn the swell of support at rallies into votes; not only to take the leadership, but to win a federal election as well.
