Houston city police chief Troy Finner said during a Wednesday media briefing that his department would hold people accountable for the deadly crowd surge at the Astroworld music festival, which left eight people dead.
“We owe it to them,” he said, adding that the investigation was ongoing and that police still have questions about the timeline of events.
Finner also said a report that a security guard had said someone had “pricked his neck” prior to the deadly incident was not consistent with the guard’s statement to police.
The police chief said he spoke with headliner Travis Scott twice prior to the festival, but that he had not had any specific concerns about the event.
